Prevention is always better than cure. We eat and live healthily to avoid problems later in life, and we should also take proper care of our teeth gums and mouth to prevent potentially painful and expensive problems. This means regular and thorough brushing and oral hygiene, sensible diet control and regular checkups with your dentist.

Checking The Teeth And Gums

At Crescent Dental Practice we not only check your teeth, we also look at the general health of the gums and the surface of the mouth and throat. All of these areas are important, and poor oral health can lead to other problems as well as to serious dental problems. Patients are always advised to attend regular checkups to avoid lengthy treatment later. Not only will this mean improved dental health and reduced pain and problems, but lower dental costs too.

Crowns

Broken and damaged teeth can cause numerous problems. Not only are they likely to cause pain, but they could lead to further problems. Teeth can become broken or damaged following accidents or because they are heavily filled. Crowns are an ideal solution to this dental problem and they can last for many years when cared for properly.

Clear Brace

By using aesthetically pleasing clear brackets and tooth-colored nickel-titanium wires placed on the front surface of the teeth, Cfast is readily accepted and proving hugely popular across the world.

Unlike many clear aligner systems, the movement is more predictable and is typically completed faster with the average treatment time being just 5 months.

Clear Aligner

SmileTRU is a series of removable clear aligners for those patients who cannot, or choose not to wear a fixed appliance.

Each positioner is designed to fit over the teeth and apply gentle forces to gradually move the teeth. Each aligner is worn for 22 hours a day for 2 weeks. After this time, the aligner should feel passive and you can then move onto the next positioner that has further movements built in. This step by step approach ensures that you are only applying gentle forces to the teeth which is both good orthodontic practice and minimises any discomfort when wearing the positioner.

Veneers

Veneers are often used to improve the look of teeth, typically to give a natural and healthier looking colour, shape, or position for your teeth. Veneers can be used to whiten a single discoloured tooth or to improve a row of teeth, depending on the patient requirements.

White Fillings

Before
After

The WHO advises the phasing out of mercury fillings. We are adept at using mercury protective rubber dam to safely and completely remove these. Rubber dam protection provides the necessary dry environment for maximum bonding ensuring excellent filling placement. And they look good too!

Gum Disease

Most people will suffer some form of gum disease in their lives, but it is possible in most cases to arrest it’s advance so the patient can keep their teeth for life. Left untreated, however, gum disease can lead to a weakening of the bone that keeps the teeth in place and this may lead to the loss of one or more teeth later in life. Gum disease has also been linked to heart disease and indeed other diseases.
